SmartQuart
Designing, executing and accompanying
The energy transition only works if it is lived! This is the thesis of SmartQuart, Germany’s first real laboratory for a CO2-neutral future at quarter-level. Only when all parties involved (consumers, energy providers, technology providers, politics and business) communicate with each other on an equal footing can real sustainability be achieved – and we at raumHOCH have the privilege of designing, implementing and supporting this communication in the SmartQuart project over the next 5 years.
Branding for more sustainability
SmartQuart is a project funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy („Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie”) as part of the funding concepts: “Reallabore der Energiewende”. Our assignment began in early 2020: A brand identity was needed. One whose design reflected the technical expertise and sophisticated networking skills of the 10 project partners involved, as well as creating proximity to the citizens – the future residents of the quarters.
360° communication
The ideal partner for this task was once again the team from “vorm”. To start with, we developed the logo, brand claim and corporate design together. This was followed by the website and the first explanatory film. In the further course of the project until 2024, raumHOCH will play the entire repertoire of communication: from print and live communication to the use of social media channels, with crossrelations brandworks supporting us. In order to communicate the potential and progress of the measures to the participating quarters and to create an atmosphere of togetherness, an interactive app was developed and a virtual environment was created in which press conferences, citizen participation formats and town hall meetings can be held despite the pandemic. As soon as Covid-19 is overcome, these formats will be carried out live on site, flanked by showrooms in the three quarters.
With the quarters for the quarters
At the quarter-level, specifically in three individual quarters in “Nordrhein-Westfalen” and “Rheinland-Pfalz”, various innovative possibilities of intelligent networking are implemented, lived and evaluated in SmartQuart. The aim is to use these structurally typical quarters in Germany to generate blueprints that can be adopted by other quarters. Accordingly, the focus of all communicative means is on reducing complexity without detracting from the forward-looking innovations.
