raumHOCH was represented at EXPONATEC COLOGNE for the first time with the interactive presentation software cloudFOLIO. EXPONATEC is Europe's most important trade show for museums and exhibitions. The newest reMOTE features were introduced at the exhibition stand with a focus on "mobile interface":
Museum visitors today are familiar with many things in the "outside" world: access to information is constant and everywhere, be it text, video or audio; they can dive deeper into fascinating topics and choose their own focus as they fight their way through the information jungle. Reality in museums often looks different. Although museums have been offering exhibitions using additional information given on touch screens for quite some time, there is often someone standing in front of it and you need to wait, or the technology stops working. This annoys both visitors and museum staff. If tablets or audio guides are on loan, this means high expenses and an array of technical problems. This explains why so many museums are afraid of digital applications.
One thing is however clear: the transfer of knowledge in museums is significantly better-founded than the unguided search for information in the outside world. But what if it worked just as easily in museums as it does out there?
With cloudFOLIO, museums can share information using visitors' own mobile devices in three different ways: from the museum to the visitor, from the visitor to the museum and interactively between the museum and the visitor.
