Thinking of your favourite ice cream, what’s your most beautiful thought or memory?
When we started raumHOCH and the tradition of having ice cream together I was surprised to learn that I wasn’t the only one who loved vanilla ice. Lutz revealed that he was the “vanilla type of guy” and ever since I’ve been saying: “I am the vanilla type of guy”!
You are originally from Bulgaria but you’ve been living in Berlin for more than 20 years now. What do you like about Berlin?
Berlin is a very versatile city and still rough. It’s still not overly renovated. There are a lot of opportunities. For a while I had thought about moving to Zurich. But then I realized how much I would miss the large spaces, the gaps between buildings and the wide roads of Berlin. And my two adult children are native Berliners, and meanwhile I feel like one as well. I have always felt at home and never as a foreigner.
When you were a child what did you want to become and why was the plan put on ice – to stick to the subject?
I had two dream jobs: and carpenter and musical director. IMHO it would have worked well together. During the day I would have constructed furniture and at night I would have waved the baton. But then I realized that I wasn’t musical at all. With carpenters I could turn drawn things into reality again and again – this very nice. Apart from that, I build furniture for myself, so a little bit of the dream became true.
