Where did you grow up and what did you like about it
Heilig: In Schaumburg, near Hannover. I was lucky enough to grow up in a big group of friends. There were 20 or 30 of us – and this group is still around and all of us have something to do with music and theatre and this constantly inspires me.
Holtz: In a small village close to Ulm. I’ll say this: it wasn’t overly complex and the group of friends not particularly large. But my family, I like them a lot. My penchant for music also comes from them, mostly from my mother. She led a theatre group, sang in a choir, did photography etc. All us kids were really influenced by that. And I got to grow up surrounded by nature on the Danube - I’ve still got my love of nature.
What did you want to do when you grew up – and what changed?
Holtz: Actually, I always wanted to be a musician and nothing changed.
Heilig: First of all I wanted to be a doctor, but I quickly figured out that I didn’t like the idea of all that rote learning while studying.
