What do you do on a surprise day off?
I go out to eat good food. To an Italian restaurant for a good pizza or some pasta. Or to an Asian restaurant. I associate relaxation with culinary enjoyment. And with long walks that I guess you could also call hikes. Then I like to walk along the Elbe – the path along the river is interesting and then on the way back, you get a completely different perspective of the riverbank.
What do you do to make the world a little bit better?
I try to help a bit with my presence in the media. For example, I took over the patronage for a hospice. And every possible chance I get, I raise awareness for the fate of the Ethiopian people of Oromo, to whom I belong. Oromos suffer under the Ethiopian government: their land is taken away from them, they are killed and mistreated. In the news, it is mostly not even worthy of a marginal note. Many try to flee and die in the Mediterranean. I’m committed to fight against their reasons for fleeing so that the people there can have a future again.
